Original lyrics
Translation
Le chant des sirènes
The Sirens Song
Children of the parks, kids of the beaches
The wind threatens the sand castles
Built with my fingers
Time doesn't spare anyone, sadly
The years pass, the echo slips away
On the dunes of Pyla
At the mercy of the seasons, of photo booths
I surrender to these glimmers of the past
At the mercy of the seasons, of decisions
I surrender myself
When memories get mixed up
The tears come to me
And the Sirens song brings me back in winter
Oh cruel melancholy
Slender harmony
Lonely euphoria
How many jokes, how many pranks
How many scars, how many masks
Have we left behind there?
Put down your guns, run away
Find peace in this racket
Before I drown there
At the mercy of the seasons, of photo booths
I surrender to these glimmers of the past
At the mercy of the seasons, of decisions
I surrender myself
When memories get mixed up
The tears come to me
And the Siren song brings me back in winter
Oh cruel melancholy
Slender harmony
Lonely euphoria

Hello! I'm just a little confused. I might be wrong, but wouldn't the first two lines be "children of the parks, kids of the beaches?"
Hello! Good point, I guess I never really thought of it like that because it's not usual English. But now that I think about it, children's parks would be 'parc pour enfants'. Thanks. :)
Welcome! :)
Hi, I have a question regarding the meaning of the lyrics.
"The Sirens Song brings me back to the winter"
What does this mean? What is the songwriter trying to convey?
Thanks!

This song is about the island of Cyprus: the clues are Pyla ( a beach there) and “put down your guns.” My guess is that they played there as children, in summer, but have gone back to visit in winter.
