Memories Of Kujukuri Beach

I can't forget the summer when we broke up
The moment we met, my heart was fluttering
People said I have a good taste
But I thought you're too good for me

Ah, on the Kujukuri beach...
The setting sun is crying

You said I'm your only one while putting a flower necklace on me
I'm in love...I'm in love...I'm so in love... oh, God, please help me

We were both suntanned back then
The rosy clouds were fading, it looked enchanting
A girl with long hair suddenly walked by
I saw where your eyes were looking

Ah, the Kujukuri beach...
That beach looks distant now

It snows on my way back home, the fallen leaves leaving a tale
That day when you were young, I'll always, always remember it
In my memories of Kujukuri beach

Mi-Ke were a famous idol trio formed in 1991 consisted of: Murakami Haruka (born: December 3, 1969), Utoku Keiko ( born: April 7, 1967), and Watanabe Mami (born September 22, 1969). In this picture here, from left to right: Murakami Haruka, Utoku Keiko, Watanabe Mami. Before their debut, they were chorus singers / backing vocals for a band called B.B Queens. Their names "Mi-Ke" means three colors as in three colored calico cat, so they usually wore costumes in 3 different colors or styles. Their music style was of 1960s and they also did some cover of vintage songs.

* few days ago when I translated this song, I've post a video from 1990 where Matsuda Seiko, Nakamori Akina, Moritaka Chisato, Wink, Kudo Shizuka, Nakayama Miho were all seen on the same stage:

^ the one who sang there were B.B Queens with Mi-Ke behind them as backing vocals. That was 1 year before their debut.

Mi-Ke have a shortlived but succesful career. They lasted from 1991 to 1993, but constantly appeared on TV, winning awards, and they have even performed 2 times in Kohaku Uta Gassen (a legendary new year eve show aired every single year since 1953. It's an all-star song battle where only elite singers of the year will be invited to be part of the show).

Released in February 14, 1991, this song is their debut song and their highest ranked song, reaching #5 in Oricon chart with 479,960 sales.

These are their live performances:

Mi-Ke released their last album and performed the last time in 1993, and then they disappeared from the media without announcing disbandment. At that same year, Utoku Keiko started her career as solo singer. Murakami Haruka actived as actress / TV personality for awhile before retiring. Watanabe Mami became an indie singer.

This was Utoku Keiko in 2021:

This was Watanabe Mami in 2019. She has changed her stage name into "Mamiya Momo":

Murakami Haruka has retired for a long time. Her most recent photo was from 2012 from her blog post.

^ She was the one on the right with blue jacket. The left one was Watanabe Mami. They met again after a long time.

This song is a little hard since the lyrics include many titles of songs of the 60's

I didn't even realize it until the second song about "Blue Light Yokohama". Seems like they're specialized in making parody of vintage songs from the 1960s.
