Original lyrics
Peppino 'o suriciello
Signore e Signori
Io mi chiamo
Peppino 'o suriciello
(Inglese)
And what a mulignana
Peppino oh you little mouse
Oh won't you go away
Find yourself another house
To run around and play
You scare my girl
You eat my cheese
You even drink my wine
I try so hard to catch you
But you trick me all the time
(Napoletano, with Calabrese accent)
Ce sta nu suriciello
Abbascio 'o sello, arreto 'o muro
Ogni sera chillo esce
quannu a casa e` scura
E 'ind o miezzu ra cucina
abballa sulo sulo
Me pare nu malandrino
pure 'a gatta s'appaura
Peppino 'o suriciello
M'ha fatto scumparì
Managgia 'o suriciello
a ccà se n'adda i'
Stasera 'ind a cucina
Nu poco e vino aggia lassà
E quanno se 'mbriaca
A Peppino aggia 'ncappà
- Ma tu che sì? Sicliano?
-- No! I'm a Calabrese, you nut!
(Inglese)
The other night, I called my girl
I asked her could we meet
I said, "Let's go to my house
We could have a bite to eat"
And as we walked in through the door
She screamed at what she saw
There was little Peppino
Doin' the cha cha on the floor
(Napoletano, with Calabrese accent)
Peppino 'o suriciello
M'ha fatto scumparì
Managgia 'o suriciello
a ccà se n'adda i'
Stasera 'ind a cucina
Nu poco e vino aggia lassà
E quanno se 'mbriaca
A Peppino aggia 'ncappà
- Ma come finiu? A schifio?
-- If I ever catch you I'm gonna throw you right in a bagnarola!
Chillo nun ce piace 'o furmaggio Americano
Chillo va truvanno nu poco e Parmiggiano
S'è fatto chiatto chiatto
cu sta vita bona
E quanno chillo cammina
pare proprio nu galantuomo
Peppino 'o suriciello
M'ha fatto scumparì
Managgia 'o suriciello
a ccà se n'adda i'
Stasera 'ind a cucina
Nu poco e vino aggia lassà
E quanno se 'mbriaca
A Peppino aggia 'ncappà
- Luiggi, I’ve got a present for you.
-- Ah, your a nice mouse!
- Close your eyes... now put your hands in the box...
-- Ah! Managgia 'o suriciello! M'ha scassato 'a mano! A mouse trap!
- 'O sole mio!
-- Eh, malandrino...

Pepino The Mouse
Ladies and Gentleman
My name is Pepino the mouse
And what a scoundrel/animal
Pepino oh you little mouse
Oh won't you go away
Find yourself another house
To run around and play
You scare my girl
You eat my cheese
You even drink my wine
I try so hard to catch you
But you trick me all the time
It's the mouse
In the basement/cellar
That is in the walls
Every night he comes out
When the house is dark
He comes up to the kitchen
And dances all alone
He is not scared
But the rascal scares my cat
Pepino the mouse
You've made a fool of me
Damn you mouse
Get out of my house
Tonight in the kitchen
A little bit of wine will be left
And whenever he gets drunk
Pepino will be caught

Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stand With Ukraine!
This Neapolitan song is originally performed by the Neapolitan singer Aurelio Fierro (1963). The version above has some differences related to the lyrics themselves (lines that are totally changed compared to the original) and to the accent and the correct pronunciation of some words because Lou Monte was not Neapolitan and he not only mispronounced Neapolitan words but he unintentionally used also some Calabrese forms (ex. for some verb terminations).
