If someone translates the same song, he (she) supposed to improve the translation. Make it better grammatically or artistically. In this case, no significant improvement was achieved. I know, it's a bit harsh, but that's how I feel . To me it feels like reading a prose or a document, rather then song.

Anatoli, when I translate the text I listen to the inner voice of my inspiration. And it gives me some orders to use or not to use some words. If I would like to translate literally, I would have gotten the same (or similar one) result as the another translator.
Anyway, everyone has a right to express own opinion, to show own vision. I don't mind, actually :)

Actually, "Cмерека" is "Spruce", but this word sounds not very melodically, so I used its closest relative "Pine tree" here :)
Also, "Smereka" is not a folk song (though it is very popular). Ukrainian poet Mykola Hnatyuk has written it.
"Смерека", кстати, не народная песня. Её написал украинский поэт-песенник, Николай Гнатюк (в видеоклипе, кстати, это написано) ;)
