War that’s not yours

Versions: #1#2#3#4
Battle at dawn. Sun and smoke.
Few know how it will end.
What will be in the young minds tomorrow?
Someone will have hope, someone fear.
Refrain 1:
Viburnum’s branches bent.
Mother, to whom did we pray?
How many more your children
Will the war that’s not yours take?
The daughters and sons became parents,
Kept seeing the colourful dreams
And kissed the hands of the lies,
Gave their days for the quiet nights.
Refrain 1.
It was so good there in the past,
Where there was no sweat and no tears.
But there was no purpose in that,
I can’t be like that, and how will you be able to?!
Refrain 2:
Viburnum’s branches bent.
Mother, we prayed to the wrong ones!
How many more your children
Will the war that’s not yours take?

It would be much more constructive if you commented on problems in this translations. For now your comment is completely useless.

What are you trying to achieve with your comments? What is your goal?

Obviously if you're trying to get me to fix my translation, then you certainly have chosen a wrong way to do this. Because your comments are written in such a way that you discourage me from doing so. If it's 'fully incorrect' than what's the point in rewriting it? Also, I only have a limited amount of time, and I can't re-read all the things I post. No one can (and you can't do this either: «через глазами ребёнка» is ungrammatical). So, to save my time, you could point at the mistakes you see.

If you want to get the translation deleted, then I don't mind it. Back when I've added it, there were no other translations here, so mine was the first one. I don't insist (and have never insisted) that it's the best one. But I don't know how to delete translations here, so you're not going to get anything with your comment. You could have written 'Can you delete this translation? The others are better. You can do this by (explain to me how to delete translations)' — this would be much more constructive.

If you want me to feel bad, then you've attained your goal. Congratulations! You're great at making people feel bad.

Unless you want to make people feel bad, you should reconsider your commenting style. I recommend you reading this text: 'Как правильно критиковать. Мануал'.

I just listed recent comments and have found this.
Thank you for the link, Dmitry.
It is really good article. I like Sigitova, but this one I didn't read before.

Thanks for your answer! I like her writing too. Unfortunately, my first answer is not in line with her recommendations. My first first reaction was to snap back, which is not a good thing. Confused smile

Dmitry, would you please be kind enough to check your private messages?
It should state all, but I still will say it in public view as well:
"My apologies for my crude response.
The system of LT automatically adds the rating to comments, which is kind of annoying, especially in this case.
As you said yourself, your first response was to snap back, which actually was also my first response to you as well.
The first comment was a rating, hence it not being more insightful...
This doesn't take away that my response to you was wrong.
I have suggested the LT team to look into ways of separating the rating system of the commenting system."

If you do not mind, it would be better to respond by private message at this, there has been too many off-topic comments already.
