The correct preposition would be 'of', not 'from', as in:
Ask the story of me = Ask me the story = Ask me to tell you the story
That is deliberate. Grammatically, either is correct.
Your equation below spreads a bit thin towards the end if I'm not wrong.
"Ask of me," means to "ask about someone" (usually from somebody else)[1]. Almost what you said.
The issue I take with that is about the Persian counterpart. "از من بپرس" is intentionally vague. Addresses both "of me" and "from me." (both "from me" and also "ask around about me") which is inexpressible in English. Hence the chosen. I picked the peculiar to signal "this is not simply 'Ask of Me'." His issue is not that others don't know about him.
The context again and the punchline. He doesn't need others to know about him. To ask from him. He is concerned mostly with the fact that he is the only one having the answers. You have to ask these "from him." Most of 'em aren't even "about him." They are about other phenomena and he knows the answers. The song literally ends with the punchline: "I know that you've seen a lot as well, ask (of what cannot be seen) *from me*."

I think you missed the point I made: Ask "from" me does not work in the context of the verses. For instance: "ask about it from me" is wrong. This is grammatical issue -- not a semantic one. The correct phrase would be "ask me about it".
