Credo (The Nicene Creed)

Credo in unum Deum;
Patrem omnipotentem,
factorem coeli et terrae,
visibilium omnium et invisibilium.

Credo in unum Dominum Jesum Christum,
Filium Dei unigenitum,
Et ex Patre natum ante omnia sæcula.
Deum de Deo, lumen de lumine,
Deum verum de Deo vero,
Genitum non factum,
consubstantialem Patri:
per quem omnia facta sunt.
Qui propter nos homines,
et propter nostram salutem
descendit de coelis.
Et incarnatus est de Spiritu Sancto
ex Maria Virgine: et homo factus est.

Crucifixus etiam pro nobis
sub Pontio Pilato,
passus et sepultus est.
Et resurrexit tertia die
secundum Scripturas.
Et ascendit in coelum:
sedet ad dexteram Patris.
Et iterum venturus est cum gloria,
judicare vivos et mortuos:
cujus regni non erit finis.

Credo in Spiritum Sanctum,
Dominum, et vivificantem:
qui ex Patre Filioque procedit.
Qui cum Patre et Filio simul
adoratur et conglorificatur:
qui locutus est per Prophetas.

Credo in unam sanctam
catholicam et apostolicam Ecclesiam.

Confiteor unum baptisma,
in remissionem peccatorum.

Et expecto resurrectionem mortuorum
et vitam venturi sæculi.

Amen.

Translation

I Believe (The Nicene Creed)

I believe in one God,
an omnipotent Father,
creator of sky and earth
of everything visible and invisible.

And I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only born child of God,
born from God before all the centuries.
God derived from God, light from light,
by the Genuine God born
and not created,
same in substance with the Father,
by whom everything was created.
The one who, for us the humans
and for our salvation,
descended from the skies.
And was incarnated by the Holy Spirit
and by Virgin Mary and became human.

He was crucified for us,
in the time of Pontius Pilatus
and he suffered and he was buried.
And he resurrected after three days,
according to the Bible.
And he elevated to Heaven
and he sits on the right of the Father.
And he will return gracefully
to judge living and dead:
his regime shall never end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the Life bearer:
the one deriving from the Father and from the Son.
Which, alongside the Father and Son,
we also honor and bow down to:
which has spoken by the mouths of the Prophets.

I believe in one holy,
universal and apostolical Ecclesia.

I confide in one baptisma
for forgiveness of the crimes.

And I expect the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the future century.

Amen.
