During a Glance
When I grew up I left the suburbs
and I'm just going down now through Madrid.
In return, I live uneventfully
with a nice man I met.
In every picture... you'll see me smile.
My youth went away slowly
and I surrendered to good judgement.
I sold my piano, I bought a nice suit
and I go running every Sunday.
One could say... everything is fine.
And then, suddenly, I see you amidst the crowd.
During a glance, the universe stops.
We're back together again and our souls ignite.
Suddenly, we understand that our thing is forever.
But we don't do anything and we keep on walking.
We go on with the life we were both prescribed.
Each on their own, dying to turn around.
Blinking quickly to conceal that we're crying.
After you, I promised to take care of myself
and I locked my heart up.
And though I confess I don't laugh anymore,
I don't feel any pain either.
I learned to resign myself to it... and it's better like this.
And then, suddenly, I see you amidst the crowd.
During a glance, the universe stops.
We're back together again and our souls ignite.
Suddenly, we understand that our thing is forever.
But we don't do anything and we keep on walking.
We go on with the life we were both prescribed.
Each on their own, dying to turn around.
Blinking quickly to conceal
that sometimes I can't sleep
and looking at the ceiling, I stay awake thinking
how slowly the hours go by.
How fast the years fly.
We were never prepared for such a strong wind
disheveling our souls and messing up our roles.
And though my heart has its path already,
I don't know how to prevent this heartbeat from being yours.
But no, we won't do anything, we'll keep on walking.
We'll go on with the life we were both prescribed.
