
Shimura Kaori, born: July 20, 1969, was an idol active in mid 1980s.
In 1984, the movie "Pants no ana" was released which became the movie debut of the idol Kikuchi Momoko. It became a huge hit, with the production cost of 60 million yen, it grossed 300 million yen and launched the popularity of Kikuchi Momoko into one of the top idols in 1980s.

Following the success of the first movie, the sequel was made based on the assumption that Kikuchi Momoko would star in it, but she declined. They had no choice but to hold a public audition to find someone who looked like Kikuchi Momoko. September 1984, Shimura Kaori, who was in her third year of junior high school applied for the audition and selected to play the lead role out of 58,117 applicants. The movie was released on April 13, 1985 which became her acting debut. Few days later, she made her singing debut on April 21, 1985.
