شمع و مه و پروانه مُکدر شده اند
گلهای وطن یکسره پرپر شده اند
در کاخ سلاطین زر و زور و ریا
هر ناکس و کاسه لیس ، مهتر شده اند
شیخی ز مقام و شان انسان میگفت
لیکن ز همه جهات ، بدتر شده اند
دیروز به دنبال کرامت بودند
امروز چنین شقی و بربر شده اند
هر آینه دنبال عدالت رفتند
با من تو بگو ، کجا برابر شده اند ؟
هیهات در این گله نگهبانی نیست

مردان غیورِ شهر ، اَبتر شده اند
من بی ادبی نمیکنم ، پس تو بگو
این ملت ما چرا چنین ... شده اند؟

In the castle of sultans of gold, power and hypocrisy,
Every coward and footlicker is a master,
A sheikh talking about man's rank and grandeur,
Yet they are the worst in every aspect,
Yesterday, they were seeking dignity,
Today, they are so cruel and brutal,
If they verily pursued justice,
Tell me at where equality was achieved?
Alas, there is no watchman after this cattle,
Shepherd, dog, and wolf have become brothers,
By deceit of green owl and purple fox,
A naive nation has been bewitched
Art masters, unaware of world state of affairs,
Have become a baboon in the eyes of the people,
It's a mistake to talk about love in the crows city,
Here everybody has become a sheriff,
Don't talk anything about bravery, honor, and dignity,
The brave men of city have become cowards,
I won't be rude, so you tell,
Why this nation of ours has become like...this?
