I decided to make some "brain gymnastics" and to translate these lyrics into Polish. I tried to interpret them in many ways until I came to the conclusion that they don't make much sense and it would be pointless to continue, so I finally gave up. Nevertheless, the song itself sounds nice and I like flamenco very much. It's a pity they seem to write the lyrics on their own and don't even try to ask a native Spanish speaker to correct them.
I agree with you in general, but I would like to add that in particular the lyrics of Gipsy Kings hit songs, specially this one, are pretty complex and some of the sentences are actually incomplete and might even confuse the native speaker as well as us. My suggestion for you, as I myself did the same thing, is to try to grasp the feeling of the song and the lyrics, word by word, and then recreate that feeling with the words with similar meaning and feeling in Polish.
Yes, you’re right. I think I can try once again, but I need time to think how to do it. On tekstowo.pl there is a translation, though in my opinion that interpretation, even if it makes sense as the whole text, is a pure fantasy of the author and has nothing with the lyrics as I understand them. Maybe I should fantasize too, shouldn’t I?
The problem with Gypsy Kings is these people were born in France and their Spanish is very broken, so you need to use your imagination to understand what they wanted to say, otherwise it's impossible to translate.
Wait...I thought The Gypsy Kings sang in Caló?
It's pretty hard translating this song since it's kind of a poem and lots of verbs are not conjugated to keep the poetic feeling of the lyrics. Therefore a native Spanish speaker may have noticeable and useful comments. Feel free to comment
