Hajipour was arrested by Iranian regime terrorist forces on September 29 2022, two days after he had released the protest song "Baraye" (meaning 'for', or 'to', or 'because of'), by which he expressed support for the mass protest after the death of Mahsa Amini.

The song Baraye, regarded by various journalists as the "anthem of the protest wave", was viewed more than 40 million times on Instagram and spread to other social media platforms before it was removed as part of his arrest. On October 4, 2022, Hajipour was released from custody on bail.

Shortly thereafter, the singer distanced himself from his own protest song.
It can be assumed that Shervin was forced into this statement by the regime through torture or the threat of torture.
