Before adding Japanese lyrics, please read the following:

  1. Titles must be added like this:
  2. * Title: 氷鎖
    * Transliterated title: Hyousa1

  3. When adding lyrics, submit the kana: ex: うまくいかなくて 落ち込んだって
  4. Add the romaji as Transliteration: ex: Umaku ikanakute ochikon datte

Here are examples of both pages submitted:
Japanse (Kana): Here
Romaji (Transliteration): Here

For finding Japanese lyrics:
**First thing you should do is Request a transcription, but if you want to look for the song yourself then please read the following:**

Don't know how to look up the lyrics? You can use the site J-Lyrics, search for the artist/song like this:

On the right side you'll see this:

歌詞検索 (Lyrics Search)
曲名: (Title)
歌手名: (Artist)
歌詞: (Lyrics) > if you have fragments of the lyrics, paste it here to see if you get a match.

Example:
歌手名: 水樹奈々
Artist: Mizuki Nana

Remember that in Japan, surname goes first and then first name. Even though we have it as Nana Mizuki on our database here, it should be Mizuki Nana.

But what if you don't know the kanji of an artist/band's name? Google it or look through:

  1. Anime News Network
  2. Wikipedia

If that doesn't work, go here: Romaji(ロマ字) to Kanji(漢字)
Example: Mizu [水] Ki [樹] Na [奈] Na [々] (the '々' symbolizes a repeating of the 'na').

Use Google Translate as a last resort here, keep in mind that it's not known for its accuracy. Search for the song on Youtube, everything in romaji and there's usually a kanji title attached to it.

Other popular sites:

  1. J Pop Asia
  2. Lyrics Wikia
  3. Anime Lyrics
  4. Utaten
  5. Uta-net
  6. Musixmatch

Some sites won't let you copy the lyrics, just add view-source: in front of the url for example: view-source:http://utaten.com/
(I'm using Firefox) go to the top menu bar on Tools > Page Info and look at 'description', click on it and 'copy'. You will get the first 2-3 lines of the song, google those and you'll get a hit for the rest of the song on another site that does allow you to copy the lyrics.

  • 1. The site will autogenerate a transliteration sometimes, if it does that you don't have to fill that out. If it doesn't, you can still fill this in manually

Hi, I just wanted to say that when you're adding a new song on lyricstranslate, the directions on that page say that the songs should be named "Original Title (Transliteration)". This forum post says they should be named "Transliteration (Original Title in Japanese)".

Gast
Gast

Yeah, what's the clarification on this? Because nearly every Japanese song is "Transliteration (Original)".

I've only noticed a couple translations of mine be flipped without me knowing to "Original (Transliteration)".

[@sansansoni] & [@Yuraa] The rules were different two years ago, changes were made over the summer but there's still no agreement on how the titles should be styled after the changes. This page will be updated soon.

... Honestly, I think it's better to sort them as "Transliteration (Original name)" for the sake of organization. Finding a certain song when the original Japanese title goes first is a bit tedious :)
(just my two cents anyway im just a normie dont take my opinion too seriously i only came because a mod switched my entries' names around and got quite confused)

On a more useful note, I found a site that lets you get the lyrics from certain websites that don't allow copying: https://franks543-lyric-get.azurewebsites.net/

I'm unsure whether this is the right place to post this, but there is another convenient way to copy lyrics from sites that don't allow it without much extra work:

The browser extension uBlock Origin (and probably other adblockers, too) allows you to bypass any restrictions by opening the dashboard, navigating to "filter lists" and selecting "uBlock filters — annoyances" under the "Annoyances" tab.

Hello, Mr Medina, I apologize for my furious comment I sent a few minutes ago.

However, what I wrote is a true thing and a troublesome error happening to lyristranslate.com.

What I wrote is that, now,
"Lyricstranslate.com is adding and mixing "Chinese character" for all Japanese songs".
Now, all Japanese lyrics on this site is including "Chinese fonts".
(現在、このサイトの日本語の歌詞はすべて「中国語フォント」が含まれています。)

I think this is a serious problem and I hope lyricstraslate.com staffs will fix this problem very soon.
Otherwise, "All japanese songs on this site looks like Chinese songs"
(このままだと、リリックトランスレート上の日本の曲は、全て中国語の曲になってしまいます。)

メディーナさん、上に書いた内容は、理解できますか?

よろしくご対応お願いします。

It looks like, this is happening to my computer (windows10, chrome)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlmfncz-Wxg

However, I have never experienced this problem before I experienced it on lyricstranslate.com.

I wonder "Simplified Chinese Kanji font appears instead of Japanese Kanji font" problem happening to other lyricstranslate.com users?

Oops, I apologize again!
This "Chinese font problem" is only happening to my windows computer.
I checked lyricstranslate.com with my smart phone, and this Chinese font problem is not happening to my smart phone browser.
So, again, this problem is only happening to my computer,
it's not lyricstranslate.com's fault. I'm very sorry I sent my angry comment above.🙇🙇
Sorry! Mr. Medina!🙇🙇🙇

[@uji na] You are not wrong. Recently fonts of the website have been changed for certain langauges including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Please refer to this topic for more information and also giving feedback to admins:
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/forum/updates/different-fonts-different-l...

Finally ignore your cell phone. Only consider your PC. The fonts have been changed only for desktops.

Thanks for your reply, I see.

I think this is a serious problem. Because, now, all Japanese songs on this site are becoming Chinese songs. I think visitors will never use this site again.

I don't know this is only happening to Windows PC. I don't know about Apple PC and androids.

Hello, Lyricstranslate.com staff people,
I noticed this problem when I opened 約束のない恋 page.
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/zard-love-without-promise-lyrics.html

With my windows PC, this kanji "直" is converted to Chinese font.

With my smart phone, this problem is not occuring.

It’s difficult for us to spot the difference between Chinese and Japanese character styles. We’ve moved Japanese into its own category and it now uses this font stack:

"Noto Sans CJK JP", "Noto Sans JP", "Hiragino Sans", "Hiragino Kaku Gothic ProN", Meiryo, "Yu Gothic UI", "Yu Gothic", "MS PGothic", "MS Gothic", "Noto Sans CJK SC", "Noto Sans CJK TC", "Noto Sans CJK KR", "DejaVu Sans", sans-serif;

We’d be glad to hear any suggestions you have about which fonts to use.

Is this problem still in progress?
The font displays without issues on my system(Win11 Japanese OS)

Check the language settings in your browser and make sure if they are prioritized correctly.

my 直 still has got a ceiling.

Just pointing it out.
“Chinese font issue” is easier to happen when your browser’s language settings put Chinese above Japanese.

Hello, LT Administrator, oh, this time, I don't see Chinese character on that page you have shown. Yes, problem is fixed.
I checked other Japanese songs on LT, yes, problems are all fixed!
Japanese songs no longer contain Chinese fonts.
I really appreciate your fast help. Thank you, LT.

"my 直 still has got a ceiling."
Hello, may I ask, are you talking about "十" at the top?
Ceiling? What do you mean by that?
