Outro : Tear

I don't wanna listen to that
I don't wanna listen to that

You’re my tear
You’re my you’re my tear
You’re my tear
You’re my you’re my tear
You’re my tear
You’re my you’re my tear
What more can I say
You’re my tear

You're my tear
You're my you're my tear
You're my tear
You're my you're my tear
You're my fear
You're my you're my fear
What more can I say
You're my

이별은 내게 T.E.A.R

Woo take it easy
Woo yeah yeah burn it
Woo yeah yeah yeah burn it
Woo yeah yeah yeah burn it

You're my tear
You're my you're my tear
You're my tear
You're my you're my tear
You're my fear
You're my you're my fear
What more can I say
You're my

Flashback
That is all

In this line RM is discussing how, despite being an extremely successful person now, he has been unable to grow out of his own self loathing and tendency of questioning his self worth. It should seem that these mindsets would disappear with the amount of things he has achieved, but they still haunt him to this day. In multiple of the promotion interviews Bangtan has done for this album, RM has mentioned the struggle he believes we all have with truly loving ourselves. He also mentions multiple times how his final life goal is to wholeheartedly love himself.

In the Love Yourself Highlight Reels Jin says something similar to this:

If we could turn back time, where should we go back to? Once we reach that place, can all our mistakes an errors be undone?

This is an interesting choice of words because a prevalent theory concerning the narrative of their music videos is that Jin is turning time back in order to save his friends and keeps altering the timeline/course of events and also merges well with the overarching narrative of the Love Yourself series:

The song also samples the instrumental of the highlight reels.

When considering that “Tear” was written about BTS' possible disbandment, this line takes on a deeper meaning. Here, RM asks the hypothetical question of whether those who adore him as RM would love and smile at him even if he were no longer that person. Without all of the shining spotlights, he questions whether people would still care about him beyond just being a member of BTS.

  • You're my tear You're my you're my ...:

During the VLive that RM made on May 28, he explained:

“There’s two meanings of Tear in English. It could mean to create tears, crying, but also to rip apart. So I took the idea of Tear (from the eyes), Yoongi took the idea of “ripping apart” and lastly, for J-Hope, it was the fear of talking after a breakup.

The part sang by RM is pronounced like /tir/ (tear like something dropping from the eyes), however, in Suga’s part, it is sang like /ter/, which has an ambiguous meaning, since /ter/ is a reference to tear apart.

These lines could possibly be referring to author-psychologist, J. William Worden’s 4 Tasks of Mourning in which the acronym T.E.A.R. stands for:

To Accept the reality of the loss Experience the pain Adjust to the world without your loved one Reinvest yourself into the world

The next line “Tears are an extravagance to me” is saying that Suga could mean that all the courage and time it took to finally open up about his emotions ended up being a waste and useless now that it all over.

The terms he used for “step on” is an old Korean word and is not used in normal speech in modern-day. Most Koreans are very familiar with it though, as it appears in the very well-known poem, “Azaleas” by Kim Sowol.

To “step on” the azaleas in this poem gives the impression of stepping on all the purity, innocence and happiness… an act of cruelty and indifference, which emphasizes the careless cruelty when used in this song.

  • You're my tear You're my you're my ...:

Two letters are giving the “end” because in Korean, the word end has with the prefix 끝난 – which is considered two letters in Korean (끝 and 난).

He is conversing with himself. The song is written in the perspective of their masked selves talking to their real bare-faced selves. In Namjoon’s verse, he talked about how his real self loved his masked self which is the reason why he never loved his real self since the start.
