I don't curse you

You go from hand to hand, you go from mouth to mouth
'cause your stone soul is incapable to feel.
You have gone insane with false flattering remarks,
you think that men are crazy about you.

All my friends have told me that you come home
at dawn with your honor lost,
and wherever you step, nothing grows
because you are worth nothing without love.

And you, who defoliated , like the wind,
my youth, my faith, my inspiration,
don't feel the slightest remorse
for having sacrificed my heart.

Go your way while I forget you,
roam the world like a strong wind,
and although, by your fault, you are not with me,
I don't curse you because I can love.

And you, who defoliated , like the wind,
my youth, my faith, my inspiration,
don't feel the slightest remorse
for having sacrificed my heart.

Go your way while I forget you,
roam the world like a strong wind,
and although, by your fault, you are not with me,
I don't curse you because I can love.

Well done Rosa.
But a verse seems to long:
"and although it's your fault that no longer you are with me"

Please try to shorten it.
Thank you.

I have tried, and was not able.
Suggestions?

(I'll look at it again).

A little better?
Actually, it's the same number of syllables: twelve.

and although, it's your fault that you are not with me

What about:
(though) tho' by your fault you are not with me ?

Thank you, Vale. I'm considering it.
But you are reducing the number of syllables to nine, when there are twelve in the original. I could have getting away with my last cut.

Let's go 50/50: "although, by your fault, you are not with me". Decidido.

Contesto como los españoles: de acuerdo.

Y me acuerdo de Salvador, un vecino mío.
Me preguntó: ¿Adónde vas?

Escribiste: "although, by your fault, you are not with me". Decidido.
Del dicho al hecho hay mucho trecho.
Y ¿cuándo vas a corregir tu traducción?

Como en esta ocasión.

¿No está ya corregida?

Y tú ¿cuándo vas a leer "En tu pelo" y "El peor de los caminos"?

No está corregida.

and although, by your fault, you are not with me,
although, by your fault, you are not with me,

I guess I omitted "and" in the example. Does it make any difference? Still they are eleven sillables against twelve in the original (versos dodecasílabos). I don't know why it looks longer in English.

Very good translation.
I realize that an "and" doesn't make any difference.

Hello Rosa

when I translated this line in Turkish I needed to add " again". Did you feel such a thing when you translated it?

yo no te maldigo porque puedo amar= I don't curse you because I can love.

No, I don't think so. I think he is saying that he is incapable to hate.

As I understand:
I don't curse you because I can love (and you cannot)

Maybe but, in addition, 'since he can love, he cannot hate'.
He is not talking about her feelings (o comparing), he is talking about his own.
If he accuses her, it would be like like 'cursing".

celalkabadayicelalkabadayi    Tue, 14/03/2017 - 23:05

OK thanks, I thought that he can love her again, but as you say, here the matter is loving ability.
