Trenulețul

The tiny train

(The train!
Oh, Advahov!
Here for Chisinau!
Gigi, so nice to see you again, man!
Tell aunt Lucretia that I'll be bringing the thing she asked for and that carpet she likes.
Tomorrow morning she should wait for me at the station, ok?

Train is leaving!
Chisinau - Bucharest.
Oh-oh

The train runs, as if flying,
From a country to another.
It runs and it can't understand
Which country? Where does it begin?
Old country, new country,
Perhaps it's one, perhaps it's two
Sometimes apart, sometimes together
Perhaps it's two, perhaps it's one

Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.

Oh-oh...

Into a country, and into another.
It dances hora altogether
And in every country
The violin does magic.
When the train arrives in its station
It's as if it hasn't left the country
It's as if it went, without leaving
From home 'till home

Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.

Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.
Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.

Chișinău - Bucharest.

It runs well...

("Good evening! We got a concert, yea? Funny! Where are we going?"
"To Bucharest!"
"Are you carrying cigarettes?"
"No!"
"And if I find any?"
"I'll give you some too!"
"I didn't catch that. C'mon unroll the carpet!")

Chisinau - Bucharest

It runs fast, it runs well
The train rocked by rails
But it can't understand
Through which country it runs
Old country, new country,
Perhaps it's one, perhaps it's two
Sometimes apart, sometimes together
Perhaps it's two, perhaps it's one

Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.

Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.
Hey how! Let's go!
Folklore and Rock'n'roll
The train is leaving! Where are you?
Chișinău - Bucharest.

("How was the trip, bro?"
"Merry! What times we live, bro! Our entire life is spent on phones and we only see each other once every 100 years. But life goes on... But I brought you a cognac and a disk "Fratii Advahov si Zdob si Zdub"...
"And the carpet right?"
"Turn back for the terminal, because I forgot the carpet in the train")

Please use the correct form of Moldova's capital city name which is Chisinau.
Kishinev is the Russian pronunciation of the city name and it's kinda ironic for this to exist in a translation for a song that has strong "pro-union with Romania" messages.

Kishinev used to be the international recognizable term for the capital of Moldova before the expansion of EU influence in the communist block, since Russian politics dominated the scene. Perhaps due to EU discourse or some other reason, the term has shifted. Of course, you might be too young to remember or tell the difference. Regardless, you are right and I've edited the word.

I'm well aware of my country's history and how its politics changed during Russian Empire, the USSR and post-USSR.
However, that doesn't change the historical name of the city.
I appreciate the edit.
