"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by British political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who later became his wife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_First_Time_Ever_I_Saw_Your_Face

It seems sad to me that the principal version of this song on LT is a rather awful cover rather than a decent rendering of the song as it was originally written. However, Roberta Flack isn't terribly much worse than Peggy at this song, judging by the version that's on LT. Ewan deserved better singers for this song than he got. Actually I would rate any of Elvis P, Nana M, and Johnny C as vastly better singers that Roerta and slightly less vastly better than Peggy. (But probably I'm prejudiced against Peggy for two reasons: [1]She and my Ann disliked each other and [2]Peggy disliked me, probably because I got on with Pete on the sadly rare times I met him years before I had any connection with Ann).
