Sobrio

Y si aún me sigue' amando, lo he intenta'o
Pero sobrio no me da, ah-ah, ah-ah
(No me da y no me da, yeah, yeah)
Por eso e' que estoy tomando
Tengo la necesidad de saber cómo te va
Y si aún me sigue' amando, lo he intenta'o

Bebé, perdón, sé que no son horas (¡Wuh!)
Pero e' que el trago no colabora (Yeah)
Quiero saber si ríes o lloras (Eh)
Si andas acompañá' o andas sola
Yo por mi parte no hago otra cosa más que extrañarte (Jejeje)
Estoy bebiendo, supuestamente, pa' olvidarte, yeah-yeah
Pero es obvio (Obvio)
Que me duela que me tengas odio (What?)
Si a última hora no fui tan mal novio (Oh-oh; shit)
Te pienso borracho y lo escondo de sobrio (¡Wuh!)
Yo te quería para matrimonio (Honey)
Pero le está' dando a esto un velorio (Hey)
Cuando tomo mi orgullo lo mando al demonio

Ya que sobrio no me da (No, no, no, no)
Por eso te estoy llamando (Yeah-yeah)
Tengo la necesidad de saber cómo te va
Y si aún me sigue' amando, lo he intenta'o
Pero sobrio no me da, ah-ah, ah-ah
(No me da y no me da, yeah, yeah), eh
Por eso e' que estoy tomando (Sé)
Tengo la necesidad de saber cómo te va
Y si aún me sigue' amando, lo he intenta'o

(Quiero aprovechar)
Yah-yah, yeah-yeah, jaja (Ya que estoy toma'o)
Dirty no, baby
(Pa' poder decirte toda' las cosa' que me he guarda'o)
Maluma, ba-ba-baby
Once again (Sé que no son hora' de llamar)
Dímelo, Edge, Edge (Pero te vi en línea)
Keityn
I love you, baby
(Y solo quería confirmar si aún eras mi niña)
El baby de las babies
Ah, Maluma, baby
Muah

Sober

I wanna enjoy the moment, since I am drinking
To be able to tell you all the things that I have kept for myself
I know it's not time to call, but I saw you online
And I just wanted to confirm if you were still my girl
I am sorry
It is that you know that it is difficult for me to say what I feel, eh
But a drunkard don't lie, baby I regret it
Seriously, to apologize I have to be drunk

Since being sober does not help me (No, no, no, no)
That's why i'm calling you
I need to know how's it going
And if you still love me, I've tried
Since being sober does not help me (No, no, no, no)
That's why i'm calling you
I need to know how's it going
And if you still love me, I've tried

Baby, sorry, I know that is not the time (Wuh!)
But the drink does not help (Yeah)
I want to know whether you laugh or cry (Eh)
Are you going alone or are you in a relationship?
For my part, I do nothing but miss you (Hehehe)
I'm drinking, supposedly, to forget you, yeah-yeah
But it's obvious (obvious)
It hurts me that you hate me (What?)
If until the last minute I wasn't such a bad boyfriend (Oh-oh; shit)
I think of you when I'm drunk and hide it from my sober state (Wuh!)
I'm serious with you for marriage (Honey)
But you wake this up(Hey)
When I take my pride I send it to hell

Since being sober does not help me (No, no, no, no)
That's why i'm calling you
I need to know how's it going
And if you still love me, I've tried
Since being sober does not help me (No, no, no, no)
That's why i'm calling you
I need to know how's it going
And if you still love me, I've tried

(I wanna enjoy)
Yah-yah, yeah-yeah, haha (Since I'm drinking)
Dirty no, baby
(To be able to tell you all the things that I have kept for myself)
Maluma, ba-ba-baby
Once again (I know it's not time to call)
Tell me, Edge, Edge (But I saw you online)
Keityn
I love you, baby (And I just wanted to confirm if you were still my girl)
The baby of the babies
Ah, Maluma, baby
Muah

Google Translate + minor adaptions...

Not a 100% match, though. There are a few differences. I'll tag a few other native Spanish speakers to hear from them [@líadan], [@MissAtomicLau], [@Geborgenheit], [@BlackRyder]

It's not a GT translation but some verses are way too literal. This English doesn't sound natural, though.

[@Alma Barroca] I’m not a native speaker unfortunately however I have studied Spanish for over a decade plus studied English to Spanish (and vice versa) translation and interpretation, so generally speaking I know it just as well as English.

The translation may not be Google Translate, however it does read like a machine translation. Some parts are just way too literally translated.

@Alma Barroca: Thank you for the tag, Juan. As @MissAtomicLau and @Geborhenheit have already mentioned, yeah, this is not a GT-based translation. It does read like that, though, but I figure it's more because of the translator misreading the source text, not being more incisive about other meanings or uses of some words in Spanish—a possible consequence of translating the text word for word and line by line—and perhaps a lack of touch to make the English version sound more natural.

For example: "Bebé, perdón, sé que no son horas" is translated as "Baby, sorry, I know that they are not hours". In the ST, the narrator is not referring to something being hours or not, but to the fact that it's not the right time to call because it's probably too late at night; "horas" in Spanish clearly alluding to the meaning of "deshoras", a similar word mainly used to convey the meaning of "at an ungodly hour". In a similar way, "(Quiero aprovechar...)" being translated as "(I want to take advantage...)" sounds too aggressive in this context; something like "I want to make the most of this / I want to seize this chance" might work better. The whole text is not entirely wrong per se but it does need polishing.

That's why I wrote "Google Translate + minor adaptations" below my one-star rating because I pasted the Spanish lyrics into Google Translate and it read almost the same as the translation with a few exceptions. The translator's adaptations are so insignificant that this is still just a Google Translation for me, therefore the one star... It might not be entirely wrong, I give you that, but one does definitely notice that the translator does not really know what the song is about.

This translator has little command of Spanish so I guess it could be a word per word translation. There are expressions such as "no me da" or "pero le está' dando a esto un velorio" which are translated way too literal and you can see they don't understand what the song is about.

Oh yes. I mean, I think the overall idea of the song is still somewhat understandable—a drunk man calling his ex lover at an ungodly hour (in a very cringy way, though)—but the main problem aside from the word-for-word method and, in that case, perhaps using GT as a main reference for every line, is indeed the translator not having enough command of Spanish to fully understand most of the idiomatic expressions and phrases in the song, nor enough grasp of colloquial ways in English for conveying these same expressions.

Thanks to all of you who gave an opinion. [@Ilafaust], the issue is that we normally only consider 1 stars to report exact matches to GT. Or translations that really make no sense at all because they break grammar, syntax, etc. rules of the target language - showing a complete lack of knowledge. As this specific work doesn't match 100% GT - and makes sense at parts (at least for me, but I agree that it was very literal), I can't unpublish it - which we normally do when 1 star is given. So, I have to ask another, better Spanish translation be provided or suggestions of improvements be given.

I don't know what more I can add except that at best, this is worth maybe 2 stars. The translation is too literal and almost translated word for word, the translator must be a beginner but definitely used something to make this translation.

I disagree with the rating. None of the arguments given make a strong enough point for 1 star, and GT is not close enough to the end product. I do think, however, especially after running a text comparison script, that nuran did indeed used something as a base- namely, Ilafaust translation. It does match mos of it, with minor stylistic alterations (which actually worsen the quality).

This would make a case for duplicate translation, no for 1-star.
