Hi LT, I want to propose reduce the Language filter in the Favorites section, eliminating from the optable languages all the ones not associated with favorite songs.
To be clear: if I want to set up a song list in language X, why do I have to scroll through a huge list of languages that can't generate any results?
If my favorite songs are currently in a total of 20 different languages, I would like a list of those 20 to appear.
What do I need other languages for? This only makes the search for the language to set become boring and chaotic

So you're asking for a feature that purely benefits you? You're asking that the list be reduced to your favorite songs/selected languages. To what 20 languages would this "list" be limited to if I may ask?

EDIT: To be clear, on the page there's two lists right? "Favorite languages" and "Popular languages". You're asking for the "Popular languages" to be removed, since none of your favorite songs would even be in these languages, correct?

It's totally useless for you to seek revenge on me by committing some low-level spite. Goodnight, my sweet granny 😘

How is that low-level? Might want to get a dictionary and read up on the definition. I even asked you what you meant exactly by that? But since you want to be petty too, good day to you too child.

I think if this got implemented, then to keep things consistent a similar feature would have to be implemented everywhere in the website where there's a language selection menu, which I doubt would be feasible.

Suggestion was not clear, which is why I asked what exactly he meant by that. I asked but was replied with a "granny" comment.

Anyway, just to be clear, what's being asked here is:
The languages on the "Favorites" page be limited to only the languages of the content that were favorited. Example: If all the content and songs I've added to my "favorites" page are in 15 languages, only those should be listed. The current one we have, the "favorite languages" lists languages that lead to nowhere. Although "Catalan" might be on that list, I have not selected any content in this language. Is this what you meant?

EDIT: I think perhaps, to branch on this suggestion that the list be removed completely. Have a new column appear that lists the language instead. And have a "sort by" (language) option.

If I got you correct, as in, you mean the language list(s), I'm against that. Simply because some people add lyrics in languages that aren't listed in their profiles. For instance, I have added several songs in Zulu, a language I have exactly 0 understanding of (and which, of course, isn't and won't ever be listed in my profile), so if we just don't show it in the lists when I'm adding a new song, how will I be able to? This could create a lot of issues, so it's better to keep it like that. Now that we have two lists IMHO it's quite easier/faster for anyone to add content.

It makes sense to limit the language options in dropdowns to those that can influence the search results. However, such an approach might have some challenges, like performance issues.

What are your thoughts on adding an "Interested in" option to the 'Languages' section of the profile, alongside 'Native', 'Fluent', and others?

This way, all language dropdowns across the site would start with an custom list of languages, tailored for each user.

This seems good to me, but I'd suggest not showing this list on profiles, so its only purpose is to customize the language menu. One might want to have a language on that menu and not necessarily tell everyone that they're "interested" in it (or be interested in it at all)

It's a good option👍, although with a disadvantage: every time a user adds a song in a new language, they will have to remember to enter this language in the "Interested" entry, otherwise it will not be present in the custom list.
Obviously this option is better than no other alternative
