Really looking to transcribing the songs in German.

I am looking forward to transcribing the Spanish songs, cant wait to see all te versions!

Just found out that is the same for Germany.
I'm particularly to transcript to "Heißgeliebt" and "Frei und Schwerelos".

I'll gladly help with the German songs :)
That is, if they release the soundtrack, because they said there are no plans to do so as of now, so we might have to make do with recordings of the movie :(

Sadly in languages other than English we normally have to make do with the recordings from the movie :(

Let's hope, I need these for my language obession lol

Yeah, except for Disney movies

Yes will forever love them releasing full tracks in all langguages

Drücken wir unsere Daumen! (Cross our Fingers!) 🤞

does anyone know if movie is coming to streaming? Normally easier to access the full songs that way

Ahh I thought steeaming release dates were released sometimes alongside films these days but I dont keep up with it

I assume that will be in English only? Imagine every language got that!

Ooo awesome that the musical is returning in brazil, the fact the audience knew every word of defying gravity and were singing along in video on here, when stage shows rarely get offical soundtracks aboard tells me how much the Brazilian audience love it!

Looking more into the dubs seems a lot of languages are getting original cast members. LA Spanish, Danish, Korean and German I remember of top of my head. I therefore have high hopes the dubs for this movie will be some of the best musical ones!

Elphaba singing voice in the German Version is Sabrina Weckelin ( lsa in Frozen II and the Musical).

She's not Elsa in Frozen II, she's her mother :)
By the way, she also played Elphaba in the German version of the musical, though she was not the original actress.
There's also a cover she made of Defying Gravity: https://lyricstranslate.com/de/sabrina-weckerlin-frei-und-schwerelos-def...

My mistake
Yes, that was the first German/Dutch Elphaba Willemijn Verkaik.

Willemijn Verkaik - famous for playing Elphaba in three countries in three languages! She's awesome. I think Willemijn is in dutch version if I am remembering correctly

I love that they got cast who have played these characters and therefore know them and care about them in the film!

Wooo, we know she's good then. Rumour has it, don't think it's confirmed yet, that Spain's Elphie is Mirela Cabero, she did Ariel's voice in 2023 film and her voice is beautiful, I would love to hear it again!

The film came out in Hungary on December 5th, I saw it both in English and Hungarian and I can confirm the lyrics in Hungarian are amazing for most of the songs! Unfortunately, unless someone is able to do it with a poor quality recording, we'll have to wait a long time (and a HD version of the film) for transcribing the lyrics.

Yes I am glad to know the songs are amazing in Hungarian! They are slowly coming to youtube so hopefully Hungarian ones arrive soon, sadly though the quality of most recordings are so awful its hard to make a lot of stuff out most of the time!

Will take a while for any languages with actually good audio (dont think its possible with it only been in cinemas now)

Spain according to an article I read have confirmed dubbed songs and voice actors have also being announced. Can't wait until I get to hear them!

Just got back from watching and I thought it was AMAZING.

Haven't seen it yet, but heard "GOOD NEWS!" about it.

Only thing I didnt like was a scene in the trailer didn;t seem to be in it? (It might of being, people kept distracting me so might of missed it)

Big news: An interview was done recently with the Spain dubbing actors. The big news is they released extracts from various of the Spanish dubbed songs in CD/good quality, they are not the full songs but it feels amazing to hear them in such good quality. I don't think this means they are planning on releasing a full soundtrack...but this for now is the best quality we have heard parts of the songs in and they sound amazing! Be on the look out for these type of interviews in other languages...we might luck out and hear parts of the songs in their languages too!
After listening to whole thing they played extracts of Popular, Defying Gravity, Dancing Through Life and What is This Feeling?

Let's hope that means they are going to do something to fix that god awful ending....

Songs are undubbed in Chinese Mandarin, Canadian French and Serbian. It's a shame I was hoping all languages would dub them but then again I suppose having the majority that did is more than we can ask for!

Were they subtitled in those languages? It might still be possible for those songs to be dubbed onto an official soundtrack though.

No they were dubbed (according to dubbing wiki) anyway, they just didnt dub any of the songs so I assume there was subtitles during the songs

That's what I was thinking about that the songs ONLY were subtitled.

Yes I assume so, haven't seen any versions of those songs yet to confirm though

How were the subtitles? Someone who watched the Czech subtitled versions said the subtitles were strange and didn't make much sense.

I just have visions of my Spanish family that dont speak English in this situation and being like 'He asked her as she is lower class? I thought her dad was governor' and being super confused lol

In Hungary, for example, during the songs of the English version they decided to put as subs the official Hungarian adaptation, so the one you can hear in the Hungarian dubbing.

That's cool! Sadly in the UK only have access to the original version so I can't really say how any of the dubbed/ subtitled versions are.

Maybe so it wouldn't be like a sing a long perhaps?

Maybe as they are releasing a sing along version...saw the trailer for it yesterday.

I saw the trailer as well but I live in the USA where I'm not so used to seeing subtitles unless they are closed captions so I honestly am not too sure about what's going on here (I haven't watched the movie either and I'm not making any plans to watch the movie 😂)

Basically from what I remember the subs appear at the bottom whenever a song starts so the audience can sing along, but captions don't appear the rest of the film, and think sometimes they are subs like karaoke, where the words are highlighted as the song goes on. Don't quote me on this though, I am not an expert, just remembering how it was on old DVDS with sing along editions LOL.

Honestly same here that's how I remember it lol

Yes I am going by like High School Musical here 🤣😂 as had the sing along dvd of that

For me at least I didn't learn about Wicked or anything related to it until about 2010-2011 in my highschool choir class and we sang Defying Gravity in English of course (I felt like the only one in the entire class that had never heard of this song before or anything about this musical movie 😭 largely because I didn't have a computer or the Internet for that matter.) so I was a bit curious about what the lyrics or lines were going to be for this movie

I saw it in theatre a few years ago, I went in kind of blind, it just looked interesting, I came out and have loved it ever since.

According to dubbing database, a Persian dub has already been released. I am sure with a big film like this there will be more, I just thought that was really quick!

In UK it's 3rd January, don't know if this includes rest of Europe!

Maybe the dubbed versions are coming later? I haven't seen anything about them yet

This could be it, since UK and Ireland - the English speaking countries - are both getting it January 3rd.

Yes, just saw a trailer for it on telly earlier so UK and Ireland are for certain getting it January 3rd. I will be interested to hear when other countries get it.

Awesome is there a release date for Italy yet?

Shame, hopefully dubbed versions are released soon though

Oooo fantastic! I am looking forward to that! I was listening to some of the HQ Latin Spanish ones yesterday and its great to make the words out without hurting yourself trying to with the quality LOL

I haven't seen any announcements for it coming to Germany either.

That is at least excting then, as it's likely we finally will have the Portuguese songs in HQ

At least regarding the Brazilian ones, there's a possibility. I however am intrigued that nothing has been said regarding Portugal... They often dub movies in EU-Portuguese as well (like they do with Spanish), haven't heard a thing about 'Wicked' in particular yet. I don't think Universal would simply ignore that market.

I thought that as well! Apprently they only have it subtitled but I have never known big productions like this not to have two seperate dubs like in Spanish, maybe it will come later? Apprently a Japanese dub is meant to realise later on.

Probably, but in Japan the release will be in March 3rd 💀
So we'll have to wait.
The dubbing wikia has some info: https://dubdb.fandom.com/wiki/Wicked

Where is the info? I can't see anything about the Japanese dub

Turns out the movie *was* released in Portugal - but I couldn't find any info regarding it being dubbed or subtitled
https://www.wicked.pt/synopsis/
At least a trailer was subtitled
https://youtu.be/rkV9H15abQQ?si=Onvqy-uKQQP3t839
And it looks like Elphaba's riff in DG was different from English... I don't know what to make of this.
Film version is out very soon. I am pleased to say that all the dubs seem to have a lot of effort put in, with original actors from that country's production. Also according to dubbing wiki many languages have credits for lyricsts or singers, so I assume most will have dubbed songs.
Germany apprently will have a version with dubbed songs and a version in german but with English songs, will be cool to see if other countries do this as I know many were worried about the songs being dubbed.
I will be going very soon, to the English version. (England has to wait an extra day for release though), but I will love to know thoughts about other versions and if they have dubbed songs when people start watching them!
