Yes, Faroese is indeed a magical language, and thanks for the rating :)
I don't do many of these Faroese requests on my own, but this is one of them. I guess for most people it would be easier to understand the German text (over the Faroese one) which is why I chose this video specifically. I still find Faroese easier to understand though. Hopefully I'll get there with German soon.

I appreciate you took the time to translate... However I wish you would have not added unnecessary flair to improve the lyrics. Like: festi meg is fastened me. Not enchanted me. brennandi bál is burning fire not a sizzling fire. Plus many more inaccuracies I found. I say this because I'm in the process of learning this language and its frustrating not having the lyrics match up.

I completely obsessed into this mysteriously beautiful song, glad that lyrics improved! :)
you may find that when learning a new language, the "unnecessary flair" is actually correct... just because the literal translation of a word or saying is different, doesn't mean the translation is inaccurate. tons of languages consist of sayings that don't have real translations; the translation may not make sense in a different language or the words may need to be altered for it to get across the same meaning in the other language. if this frustrates you, then you probably shouldn't learn a new language. or, at the very least, you should learn the language before critiquing others' translations.

So very true, you only have pretext without context. You have to consider tribal foundation of the viking life in this song. She really wanted to go back centuries in this song thus she included tribal music and throat singing to create this film song. It's the most haunting song I've ever heard and Eivor is magical in her craft. She has spelled me and lit a sizzling fire in my ancient Viking soul.

She says she is spellbound by a "Galdramaður", which means the person that does a "galdr", which is a word in Old Norse with two meanings, one is song and the other is incantation, spell. The verb "galana" means to sing or to cast a spell. So she was struck by the Singer/Sorcerer's spell/ song. And then proceeds to sing/ enchant us with her own galdr.

Hah, I started looking for the translation and somehow knew that you had done it already. :) As I can see from those German subs in the video, everything is excellent as usual.
So much in love with this song, really. I guess, even beating pots will sound passionate, if accompanied with singing in Faroese.
