Changes!

In place of warm is green glass,
In place of fire is smoke.
From calender taken the day.
The red sun burning to ashes,
Day burns with it.
The ray falling on the flaming city.

Our hearts require the changes,
Our eyes require the changes,
Into our laugh and our tears,
And into pulse of veins
Changes!
We are waiting for changes.

Our day goes to electric light
And matchbox is empty.
But in the kitchen in blue colour burns the gas.
Cigarettes in hands, cup of tea on the table,
It's simple plan.
And there isn't something else, everything inside of us.

Our hearts require the changes,
Our eyes require the changes,
Into our laugh and our tears,
And into pulse of veins
Changes!
We are waiting for changes.

We can't be proud of wisdom of eyes
And of skilful gestures,
We don't need it to understand each other.
Cigarettes in hands, tea on the table,
It all came back to where it had started
And suddenly we afraid of changing something.

Our hearts require the changes,
Our eyes require the changes,
Into our laugh and our tears,
And into pulse of veins
Changes!
We are waiting for changes.

The use of English articles is not your cup of tea ;-)

Nemesida's translation gives idea of what the song is about, i guess it's the stylistics that has to be corrected, anyway below i would suggest my version. Just make sure you turn on the original of the song, otherwise reading any translation of the song is completely pointless. Tell you even more, it's pointless even reading the original in Russian to us native speakers because the sense in Tsoy's songs is crypted in the second or the third or even deeper level)))

A bottle's green glass instead of the warmth
Smoke instead of fire
A day taken out of the calendar
Red sun's burnt to ashes,
and the day fades away with it.
City on fire's covered with shadow.

Our hearts are longing for changes
Our eyes are longing for changes
It's in our laugh and in our tears
And in the pulsation of our veins
Changes, we are longing for changes

Electric light prolongues our day
And a matchbox is totally empty
But the flame of kitchen gas is like a flower in blossom
A cigarette's in a hand, tea cup's on the table
The scheme is simple
There's nothing more, everything's inside us.

Our hearts are longing for changes
Our eyes are longing for changes
It's in our laugh and in our tears
And in the pulsation of our veins
Changes, we are longing for changes

Our eyes are not full of wisdom
And our hands are not always skilled
But to understand one another we don't need it all.
A cigarette's in a hand, tea cup's on the table
That's how a circle completes
And suddenly we are too terrified to change anything

Our hearts are longing for changes
Our eyes are longing for changes
It's in our laugh and in our tears
And in the pulsation of our veins
Changes, we are longing for changes

Thanks for the lyrics & translation!!

While I disapprove of your profile picture, I'll post a quote from Erich Fromm that I can't help connecting with this great song that should be better known throughout the world

“….In fact, for those who see in the monotheistic religions only one of the stations in the evolution of the human race, it is not too far fetched to believe that a new religion will develop which corresponds to the development of the human race. The most important feature of such a religion will be its universalistic character, corresponding to the unification of mankind which is taking place in this epoch; it would embrace the humanistic teachings common to all the great religions of the East and of the West; its doctrines would not contradict the rational insight of mankind today, and its emphasis would be on the practice of life, rather than on doctrinal beliefs.

Such a religion would create new rituals and artistic forms of expression, conducive to the spirit of reverence towards life and the solidarity of man. Religion can, of course, not be invented. It will come into existence with the appearance of a new great teacher, just as they have appeared in previous centuries when the time was ripe. In the meantime, those who believe in God should express their faith by living it; those who do not believe, by living the precepts of love and justice and-- waiting.” (The Sane Society,1955, p.352)
