Dragostea din tei
Love from the Linden tree
Mai-ha-hi
Mai-ha-hu
Mai-ha-ha
Mai-ha-ha-ha (x2)
Hallo, Hey
It's me, an outlaw
And please, my love, accept the happiness
Hallo,Hallo,it's me, Picasso
I've beeped you and I am tough
but know I don't ask you anything
You want to leave but don't take me, don't take me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
Your face and the love from the Linden tree
remind me of your eyes (x2)
I call you, to tell you
what I feel now
Hallo,my love,it's me, the happiness
Hallo, Hallo, it's me again, Picasso
I've beeped you and I am tough
but know I don't ask you anything
You want to leave but don't take me, don't take me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
Your face and the love from the Linden tree
remind me of your eyes (x2)
Mai-ha-hi
Mai-ha-hu
Mai-ha-ha
Mai-ha-ha-ha (x2)
You want to leave but don't take me, don't take me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
don't (take) me, don't (take) me, don't (take) me with you
Your face and the love from the Linden tree
remind me of your eyes (x2)

Hello! There are a lot of discussions going on about the real meaning of " Dragostea din tei" , but here a short summary : "tei" is a Linden tree, but "din tei" is pronounced almost the same way as "dântâi", what means "the first"...

this song has a lot of nostalgia..thank you! :)
About the meaning of the song's title - it literally means "Love from the linden tree", as in two lovers climbing up the tree and sitting on a branch next to each other. Also, "tei" rhymes with "hay" :)
"dântâi" is not a word, but I am assuming you meant "dintâi", which doesn't make much sens on its own, as it's composed and used "cel dintâi", which means "the first one".
Oh and "nu-ți cer nimic" means "I don't ask anything of you" - like a request, not a question.
Romanian is my mother tongue, so I can vouch for what I am saying haha. Overall great job!
It is obvious for every Slav that din tei means fake. Dragosta din tei means fake love. Of linden is a Slavic idiomatic expression for fake.
